AWE is a supportive inclusive environment.
The goal of AWE is to give the young artist the opportunity to make art that isn’t compromised by space limitations or a time frame. We encourage long-term projects and taking chances. We teach technique and problem-solving. We emphasize personal growth and expression through art. AWE gives young artists an ideal place to create. AWE is located in DUMBO, Brooklyn; known for its gorgeous views of the Manhattan Skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. The studio is about 1,700 square feet, has 3 windows and a skylight.
AWE Summer is from July until mid August. It’s for 10-18 years of age. There are 6 sessions to choose from. Each session is one week. Each day is 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Students get to try different art forms and mediums such as; painting, print-making, sculpture, graffiti art, book-making, mosaics, photography and sewing. AWE Summer is for the focused artist who wants to make art all day, every day for at least a week.
AWE Portfolio is during the Fall from mid September until mid December. It’s for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who want to improve their art and/or are applying to high schools where an art portfolio is required. AWE Portfolio is for high school students who want to prepare college portfolios or just make focused art in a studio environment. AWE Portfolio teaches long-term skills with a focus on eye-hand coordination, proportion, composition and the art process from beginning to end.
AWE After School
AWE After School starts in late January until late May. It’s for 6th-12th graders who want to improve their art skills and continue making portfolio-bound art. It is also for the young artist who is new to making art but, is passionate to learn all the different art forms and mediums.
