AWE Art Classes in Brooklyn, NY

AWE is a supportive inclusive studio environment for teens to make art.

The goal of AWE is to give the young artist the opportunity to make art that isn’t compromised by space limitations or a time frame. We encourage long-term projects and taking chances. We teach technique and problem-solving. We emphasize personal growth and expression through art. AWE offers three programs during the year. AWE Portfolio is held in the Fall and is an after school session of six classes. There are two sessions. Middle School classes are held on Mondays or Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 pm (there are may also be some Saturday classes). High School classes are held on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm.  AWE After School is just like AWE Portfolio except it’s during the Winter and Spring. The hours are the same as AWE Portfolio. There are eight classes per session and two sessions. AWE Summer has six weekly sessions of art-making. Classes are 9:00-3:00 pm. AWE is located in DUMBO, Brooklyn;  known for its gorgeous views of the Manhattan Skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. The studio is about 1,700 square feet, has three windows and a skylight.

AWE Summer

AWE Summer is from July until mid August. It’s for 10-18 years of age. There are six sessions to choose from. Each session is one week. Each day is 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. AWE Portfolio

AWE Portfolio Tuesday classes is for high school students who want to prepare college portfolios or just make focused art in a studio environment. AWE Portfolio and AWE After School classes teach life-long skills with a focus on eye-hand coordination, proportion, composition and the art process from beginning to end.

AWE After School

AWE After School starts in late January until late May. It’s just like AWE Portfolio except that it’s held in the Winter and Spring. It’s for 6th-12th graders who want to improve their art skills, make portfolio-bound art and gain confidence as young artists. AWE offers a wide array of art forms and mediums for students to explore. Students work independently on their own art in an inclusive studio environment.
