AWE PORTFOLIO MS is for 6th, 7th and 8th graders who are considering applying
to NYC High Schools that require an art portfolio for admission or just want to
improve art skills. Classes begin Monday, September 21 until Thursday,
December 18, 2020. We will primarily draw and paint. We will focus on technique
and eye-hand coordination while building skills within the traditional foundations
of art. We will concentrate on figure drawing, still-lifes, reference and imaginative painting and drawing. Auditions at NYC art high schools begin in late October until
mid December. Some of the work done will specifically prepare for the in-class
drawing exam select art high schools require (this may not take place due to
COVID-19 in-person limitations). AWE PORTFOLIO gives guidance and instruction
to each student’s needs and style. Style means a personal approach to making art
like a brush stroke, blending technique or over-all appearance. The goal is to create
a cohesive portfolio that is truly their own and presentation-ready for any of the
NYC art high schools.

AWE offers consultation/presentation prep for 8th Graders. This service ($50.00) entails reviewing and consulting a student’s final portfolio and backing up any drawings and art on paper with black board for auditions/presentation. This optional fee is on the AWE PORTFOLIO application above the tuition payment. Check the box if you would like this service.
